No, it wont be a problem. They will keep charging Rs. 118 every month as account non maintenance fee and will send you message about it. The bank officials might even call you to visit the branch. One day the account will become dormant and you won’t be able to use the account even if you want to.

If you do not have the account active for over 7 years, the account will become dormant. It ceases to be active and you need not close it. It is as good as being closed.

SBBJ converted to SBI account. So now you will have 2 accounts in SBI. If you close any account, they will charge you. Sad truth. Better not close the account and keep the balance 0.

You can talk to the manager. You will require the signature of your mother for sure to close the SBI account. Rest depends on the bank.

Yes, closing charges are applicable as mentioned above. Best thing to do is, make account balance 0 and leave the account.

My sbi sb a/c has only 29/- left. I’ve no intention to use the a/c anymore. Am I compelled to close the a/c, officially? If I don’t and leave it as it is, will that be a problem?

banks are highly structured, organized highly civilized institution originally after nationalisation they did wonderful work for the development of entire sector of the economy .after demonetisation due to changes in the charges if banks are interested to earn normal profit or profiteering.in a sb a/c one of the largest customer bank in India than the size of population stralia raised the charges for below minimum balance and closure charge etc. a person close a sb a/c on 15 09 2017, by having 1053 on may 31 2017 he won’t get single paise in metropolitan cities due to minimum balance of rs 5000 he willbe losing rs 115 115 115 118 repectively foe June to September and closure charge rs500 plus gst 90 so in sb a/c sleeping position the a/c will be automatically nil balance after 5 months bank so my family lost this month totally rs7653 in bank deposits another leading bank my son is having salary a/c and this system,s selective amnesia it has deducted rs450 and rs150 for July and aug due minimum balance of rs10000 but it is zero balance a/c due to sustem human resources have no respect for them and customer. another mere tragedy the f.d a.c on maturity date during mid nightm rbi dy.general managery daughter lost rs 6000 due to system operation responsible people in the banks has no use . i dont know i could not able to contact. the concerned i request the rbi higher official may contact me in cell no ********.for remedy

simply transfer the amount in to another account maintain zero balance
if you are going to the bank you have to wait for one hour . They can deduct more than 1500 hundred rupees.
      Through online banking transfer amount
if you are going to bank to close the account the bank staff show you stars
at day time by deducting the amount in the form of charges

Normally, one is given a loyality bonus for being with the bank. Things are different here.
    2. Was not SBI required to notify this to their customers at least by e mail?
    3. What, if the customer withdraws all amount in the account, leaving only Rs. 10/- and never close the account.
    4. Are these new charges explicitly displayed, with a special signs in every branch?. If not, how can the SBI levy these charges?
    5. Only one year back, people were having zero balance accounts, now all these undesirable charges.
    6. Expect a reply, to enable shift accounts en block. We as a family have 11 accounts.
    7. The point was raised with Customer care/GM, but no reply.
