After making waves in the telecom sector, Reliance Jio is all set to rock the smartphone market with a new mobile phone, the Jio Lyf Easy. It already has the Flame series which cost Rs.2999 to Rs.4199. But the Jio Lyf Easy will be the cheapest smartphone available in the world with 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology. It will be in the range of Rs.1000 – Rs.1500. Offering a 4G phone at this price is truly remarkable.
With this endeavour, Reliance will take a step further in it’s aim to build a ‘Digital India’. This phone will help connect the rural population by providing an option for 4G connectivity at a very affordable rate. It will be useful for not just calling and messaging, but also for browsing the internet and many other features.
Reliance has not yet made an official announcement of the launch date. But as per reports, it will be launched in the first quarter of 2017, most probably in February or March.
Once the Jio Lyf Easy mobile phone is launched, you will be able to buy it from the official Jio website. It will also be available on major online shopping websites like Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal.
You will be able to buy it by paying online using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Or by selecting the Cash on Delivery option. It is likely that there will be flash sales of this product, or pre-booking. So keep an eye out for the launch date.
Currently the following Flame series phones costing Rs.2999 are available –
Flame 3 offers High Definition voice and video calling over LTE network. It is a dual SIM phone, and both SIMs are 4G enabled. However, at one time only one SIM can work on 4G, while the other will work on 2G.
The Quad core 1.5 GHz processor and Android Lollipop 5.1 make it great for multitasking. It comes with a 4 inch WVGA display, a 1700 mAh battery, and Asahi Dragontail glass for increased protection. It has a 5 MP primary camera with HDR, and you can choose from between 10 different Indian languages. The internal memory is 4 GB, expandable to 32 GB.
Flame 4 is very similar to Flame 3, except that is has a 2 MP primary camera with LED flash, 0.3 MP VGA front shooter, and 8 GB internal memory (expandable).
The Flame 5 has a 1650 mAh battery, and is currently available only in selected places like Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand. The other specifications are similar to those of Flame 3.
The Flame 6 has a 1750 mAh battery, a 2 MP HDR primary camera, a 2 MP front camera and 8 GB internal storage (expandable). The other specifications are similar to those of Flame 3.
This phone will truly revolutionize the smartphone sector, by making it affordable for everyone. Reports suggest that Reliance might also offer free calling on Jio Lyf Easy handsets. However, SIM cards of all other operators can be used in the Lyf Easy phone as well.
